Eye Spy.... something blooming

Have been wanting to do this eye spy for a couple of days now! Better late than never.
In our garden, there are lots of flowers blooming, so I thought it fitting to put them here. A pink mix of Camellias, Rhododendrons, Magnolia - which are kinda pink.
I've also included me in this mix, as it was my birthday last Thursday.... it was a blooming lovely day! The giant tea cup was one of my presents and it has lots of blooms on it too. (From Tea Too) I've been enjoying many a cuppa from it. My sister gave it to me and bought herself one too, so we can have giant teas together. Isn't that sweet??

Of course I have to show off my two little girls, who have bloomed into their own unique little personalities. Very different to each other.

And, well, all I can say about this shot is - blooming gorgeous!

Eye Spy.... Something beautiful in my backyard

This is our veggie garden which we love. Mr bpab made the plots last year. We have heirloom lettuces growing in them at the moment (very tasty!). Artichokes are in the back corner there.

This is the curvy path leading from the house through the back yard, up to the very back. Any child that comes over to play has a ball running down the path (as it's down hill to the house) or rolling balls down it.


Up the very back is the paved platform where we hang out at times under the passion fruit vine and enjoy. The chiminea gets fired up mainly during Winter and we've cooked damper and roasted veggies in it.
I love all our back yard really! I love how we have an abundance of edible plants to use and our own little natural paradise in the middle of suburbia.

I love our back yard! To have a private space where I can wander around, pottering, bask in the sunshine, look out on to when it's raining. The kids can explore and there is a sense of safety and release.

This is.... my favourite thing from nature

It looks like a lot of things from nature.... but actually it's the diversity of what nature can do and be that is my favourite thing!
How nature can have so many looks, so many shades of colours (even if they are all greens or browns), so many shapes and patterns (if you look close enough) and so many different textures and moods.
It's no wonder I love nature! It's not very hard when you are surrounded by it. (Even if you live in a concrete jungle)
If I am ever sad or frustrated or need time out from what I'm doing, a bit of nature therapy always lifts me and refreshes any stale views I may have. Soooo lucky to have nature, she's a real gift!

Looking out the front window....

We are fortunate to have the most enormous Camellia bush in our front yard. You could pretty much call it a tree! We love it and have a great view when it's pink flowers appear.

11 little ducks went out one day......

Nothing to do with bpab.....

We were fortunate to see a mumma duck and eleven little ducklings carefully making their way back to the river from up the road and around the corner! A neighbour and ourselves kept an eye on the traffic at the round about so they could cross it in safety. (felt almost like a lolly pop lady!)




(Actually this event resulted in me burning the pears I was stewing..... it was worth it - and I had another pear....)

Green around my home....

A favourite vase like this one always looks great with natives. (look to your local opp shop!)

Meet 'froggie' as he's dubbed by the girls.... Mr bpab made this one years ago. He lives outside the back door, keeping an eye on things for us.

The old clothes line... blending in nicely with all the other green stuff (can you see it??)

The never ending supply of parsley we enjoy frequently! Did you know it's good for bad breath? Give it a chew next time....

'Olive' the olive tree.... she is still a youngen, but has produced 6 olives already! Yay for Olive! (and such a pretty green too.)

Well looks like most green things around my home are nature inspired. Ahhh, nature!

Orange around my house

Leading out to the back yard, we battle with plastic string beads that hang from the door. We love them, but sadly, they don't keep the flies outside!

These flowers (the name escapes me....) grow happily in our vegetable garden. They protect the cabbage from nasty invaders. Sorry to be so vague, but I am not able to check my info and don't want to lead you down the 'wrong' garden path..... Anyway, they are hardy and great for companion planting!


Our fabulous orange tree! We have two actually and they are THE best oranges in the world!! You would know this fact if you have tasted them. They are so sweet. No shortage of vitamin C around here!
