Sigg bottles news (you know, the BPA thingy?)

I'm not always on the ball when it comes to the latest news. Most of you know about the SIGG bottles fiasco already. Those of you who do not, have a right as consumers to know.
I'm not good at all the words, so I've provided snippets and links for you to read instead.
I hope you get all the info you need to make your own informed decision about your old SIGG bottle.

CEO letter about Sigg bottle liners
"All SIGG bottles made since August 2008 contain our new BPA free EcoCare liner. SIGG bottles manufactured prior to August 2008 have the former water‐based epoxy liner which contains trace amounts of BPA. These bottles have been thoroughly tested and showed 0% leaching of BPA. It is easy to determine which liner you have, as they are of 2 distinctly different colors.
Visit to see photos comparing the two."

SIGG knowledge base (FAQ)
"Are older bottles containing BPA safe?
Yes. U.S. and worldwide regulatory bodies continue to deem the component safe and independent research has shown that these bottles do not leach. We stand behind the quality and safety of all our SIGG bottles including those with our former liner."

If you are at all concerned with the SIGG bottle you have, please refer to 'Which liner do I have?' to look at the different liners. The old ones have metallic look, while the new BPA free ones have a dull plastic look.

The reps. of SIGG in Australia are accepting old lined bottles and exchanging them with new eco lined bottles. This is a voluntary exchange and you will get a bottle in the same size and as best match as possible. (ie; boy bottle for boy bottle) If you love your bottle's design, then keep it - as you have no guarantee of the design you will get back in the new bottle. The old bottles are still safe, as outlined above.
If you have been misled in believing the SIGG bottle you have purchased, did not contain BPA, then here is the address to send your old bottle to: (Again, please check the inside of your bottle first. Don't go sending any new lined bottles to them.... you'll get it sent back... or maybe not, as they may see it as a sign of protest.... so then you'll end up with no bottle, won't you? That's not the aim here.)

I'm still happy to stock SIGG bottles at bpab.
Yeah, they made a foolish mistake with not being totally transparent about what the liner ingredients were.
They did state their bottles don't leach BPA, and that is true.
They now only make bottles with the new eco liner.
They do make an effort to support environmental causes.
Metal bottles will always be better than plastic.

We are not an environmental store, but do like to offer alternatives for the better when we can.
We have taken all old bottles off the (virtual) shelves and will be sending them back to our rep.

Welcome label "2 little boys" to my 200th post!

I LOVE this new brand! So colourful and very fun. Perfect for bpab...
2 Little Boys are from the UK. The range is full of perfect boredom buster ideas and to spark the creative imagination of any child.
Above are the IOU Vouchers, which come in a clear plastic case and are perfect for giving out as rewards or spoiling children on special days. My girls can't read yet, so I've been letting them look through them and they pick based on picture (I can modify because they don't know what it says on the card... as long as it goes with the picture!). La chose that we ate ice cream in the afternoon - which was very yummy! Today Chai chose that we go visit the museum next week - we haven't been for ages so it will be a great adventure. There are 50 cards in the pack (including 4 custom ones for you to fill in) and are only $19.95.

Then there are the great blank paged notebooks, with glossy covers and spiral bound! I'm drawling...... I seem to do this with stationary of any kind! Anyway - there are notebooks just for BOYS and another just for GIRLS, but the ones I love are these above. The "I'm going to....." series will help hatch any plans and keep it all in one place. $19.95 each.

See the whole range of 2 Little Boys.

Now, the bit about my 200th post!
Sooooooo, to celebrate my milestone, I'm going to give away a "I'm going to..." notebook to someone who has a plan!
Leave me a comment telling me the plan you are thinking of hatching. It can be something totally silly, most serious or absolutely ingenious...... I'll award the most deserving plan the perfect notebook! Maybe your child has a plan he/she wants to tell us - include their name and age too please. Perhaps you need a plan to escape??
I'll pick the winner in 3 weeks, that's Friday 16th October 2009.
Now, get scheming!

Eye Spy.... an inspirational person in my life

There are lots of people who are in my immediate life that are very inspirational to me on a daily basis.... but every time I spend some catch up time with this gorgeous gal I always marvel at the things she achieves and how she lives her life is really something to aspire to. She motivates me to get off my bum and go for what I truly believe in. She has great dress sense, her own look, which is enough to make me want to look at myself and make an effort. She rides a motor bike and drives a classic, has traveled the world, excels in what ever she does - believing she can do anything. Yes, I'd say she's an inspirational person in my life...... lucky me!

(That's me at the back, breastfeeding La....)
Thank you Sally from Virtually Sally for this week's theme.
Pop on over to Cindy's for more inspirational people.

Eye Spy... Seasons change

We are now at the start of Spring and will soon be:
Spotting mummy duck and her ducklings waddling down our street
Training for Triathlons (or just trying to get rid of some excess body weight)
Saying goodbye to leafless trees
Wearing our (sun)hats all the time when outside
Going gooey over little lambs
Running around flying kites
Dreaming about soft green grass under our bare feet
Giggling at little kids as they wobble when they walk (at Collingwood Children's Farm, Vic.)

Looking forward to all these changes in our daily lives and more! Can't wait!

Thanks to Lisa at The Princess & The Monkey for this weeks theme.

Eye Spy.... something blooming

Have been wanting to do this eye spy for a couple of days now! Better late than never.
In our garden, there are lots of flowers blooming, so I thought it fitting to put them here. A pink mix of Camellias, Rhododendrons, Magnolia - which are kinda pink.
I've also included me in this mix, as it was my birthday last Thursday.... it was a blooming lovely day! The giant tea cup was one of my presents and it has lots of blooms on it too. (From Tea Too) I've been enjoying many a cuppa from it. My sister gave it to me and bought herself one too, so we can have giant teas together. Isn't that sweet??

Of course I have to show off my two little girls, who have bloomed into their own unique little personalities. Very different to each other.

And, well, all I can say about this shot is - blooming gorgeous!

Thanks to Holly from Snipping, Snippets & Snapshots for this week's theme.

Does your water bottle have it's own shoe?

Got lots of new Sigg gear in this week and I'm loving these two items!

Chai is coveting the Fairy tale bag and 400ml bottle set (above). Little does she know she'll be presented with a set when she starts kinda next year. (Lucky girl!)
There's a Space themed set too. Plus there are snack boxes that match these themes also. Very cool.

This is a Shoe Pouch for your bottle!
Your bottle goes into the top part and there's a secret compartment on the bottom to sneak a few snacks in when you're out and about. Kids will love practising tying up the shoe laces too (or re-threading them into less 'embarrassing' patterns.

Comes in 4 different colours / designs. $21.50 each. (bottle not included)

Lots of new bottle designs are in and Kidz Grip handles come in white now too.
Check it all out here.

***Give-a-way time!
But I'm not giving away anything for nothing this time:
Purchase any Sigg bottle from our range over the month of September and go in the running to WIN your very own Shoe Pouch! (Your choice).
1 Shoe Pouch winner will be randomly drawn on 1st October 2009.
Get 2 entries into the draw by typing 'rainbow blog' in the comments box at checkout.

Those of you not up to purchasing a bottle at this time can go ahead and blog about this giveaway and you'll be gifted with a $5 off voucher code to spend on anything at bpab. My thank you to you for spreading the word! Just leave me a comment with link to post and make sure I can email you too.
