BLUE
Yep, this week's colour is 'typically' boyish! BLUE
A primary colour, comes in many shades..... from baby blue to the greenish aqua to to the strong and dark navy.
Think of blue skies, lakes, the ocean, eyes, really cold fingers and lips!
This was my favourite colour when I was growing up..... until Fine Young Cannibals released a song about it! Just wrecked it for me.....
Anyway, same as usual;
* comment about blue
* submit a photo
The shop will be celebrating BLUE this whole week.... all BLUE stuff has been discounted through out the store! Now that's nothing to be blue about!

Pink in Indonesia?
PINK: a colour mix of Red and White
In the Indonesian language there isn't a word for pink as such, instead because it 'stems' from the colour red, the words to describe the colour pink thus has the word for red (merah) in it. So pink in Indonesian is either "merah muda" or "merah susu" or "merah jambu" which translate into "light-red" or "milky-red" or "red jambu" -jambu being a tropical fruit found in Indonesia which has a deep pink, almost magenta colour to it, hence the closest natural colour of pink that people can relate to. (image above)
Nowadays however with almost everyone able to speak English, the work 'pink' has been adopted into the Indonesian language, and almost everyone would know what it means when we say 'pink'.
Thank you to Jacinta for this great contribution on what Pink means to her.

Sip in style
Got some great looking Sigg water bottles today.
Very tempting to trade in my (not so) old bottle for a new one!
They won't taint your water, leak or get lost in the blah of boring water bottles.
Give up those yucky plastic bottles that off gas and don't last the distance...... we've got one for every age!

PINK
This week we're girling it up a notch! My 3 year old will be very pleased!
PINK PINK PINK PINK PINK
Looked up Wikipedia..... lots of pink ideas there!
Mainly associated with the female gender, pink was once a colour for boys! (and blue for girls)
Boys wore pink as it was a strong colour, being in the same family as red.
But why is pink naturally a little girls favourite colour?
Having first hand experience, my oldest girl loves pink, everything to do with the colour. If it comes in pink - it's hers!
There has been no influence to suggest she should like pink above all other colours. (Believe me, she has been exposed to all colours equally and none more than the other.....)
My youngest girl hasn't been able to experience much pink (as her older sis. has claimed it as her very own colour!) yet...... will she choose pink too? Maybe when she's older, she may secretly covet pink and sneak a bit of pink in here and there.... never letting her sister know in case it's snatched away from her!
Or maybe she won't care too much about pink and have a love affair with another colour. I hope so.
Would love your views, ideas on this sweet colour!
The shop is celebrating with all PINK things going at a special price..... not just in the SALE section either. Have fun!

This is... how I like to spend my weekend
Weekends for me is a time to do something different to what I've been doing all week!
Saturdays are usually a bit mixed up as Mr bpab is working during the morning. When the school holidays are happening, he doesn't work on Sat. so we always visit St Andrew's market.
Gives us our hippie back-to-our-roots balance, from being in the suburbs too long. Chai tea and lazing around on cushions does the trick.
Sundays are family day. We try to get outside and play with the kids, take them somewhere that blows their mind.... or at least expands it in some way!
Here are some oldish shots of us (being a family!) at Collingwood Children's farm.
Good value for all.
Gardening, markets, watching movies in the evenings, catching up with friends.... lately we've been playing scrabble and doing some renovating! So no strict rules to my weekends, except to spend it with my family.
Thanks to Bird Bath for this week's theme.
Wanna join in? This Is explained.....

Facebook & being Green
Well, bpab has it's own Facebook page.
It had to happen.... you can now become a fan! Yee har!!
Something green.....
Check out the Climate Rally blog.
You can see the human 'Climate Emergency' sign they staged in July this year.
Find out more on the week long awareness campaigns being held in September (over the Spring Equinox). Maybe you can get involved in something that's happening.... or just spread awareness.
Bpab will be getting involved in some way too.

11 little ducks went out one day......
Nothing to do with bpab.....
We were fortunate to see a mumma duck and eleven little ducklings carefully making their way back to the river from up the road and around the corner! A neighbour and ourselves kept an eye on the traffic at the round about so they could cross it in safety. (felt almost like a lolly pop lady!)
(Actually this event resulted in me burning the pears I was stewing..... it was worth it - and I had another pear....)

Green around my home....
A favourite vase like this one always looks great with natives. (look to your local opp shop!)
Meet 'froggie' as he's dubbed by the girls.... Mr bpab made this one years ago. He lives outside the back door, keeping an eye on things for us.
The old clothes line... blending in nicely with all the other green stuff (can you see it??)
The never ending supply of parsley we enjoy frequently! Did you know it's good for bad breath? Give it a chew next time....
'Olive' the olive tree.... she is still a youngen, but has produced 6 olives already! Yay for Olive! (and such a pretty green too.)
Well looks like most green things around my home are nature inspired. Ahhh, nature!

This is.... a work(s) in progress
(Doing mine now as I won't be around tomorrow to do it!)
I have a few works in progress.... it is how I work.... and I have no idea when they will finish themselves! Anyway, here are the beanies half done....
They're made out of old knitted jumpers and cardigans. They're all sewn up, just waiting for inspirational embellishments. Possibly next Winter.... unless someone sees one they MUST have!
These two have pockets on them. (Pockets are from the original jumper, I just cut around them.) They are waiting for their over locked hems..... where IS that over locker?!
Look what I found! It's going to be a cushion cover. Using different types of wool in a range of reds (when ever the half used balls of wool run out is when I change textures..... or I'd be knitting air wouldn't I? Or would I? Must try that next time.....). My plan is to do an orange one and a pink one too. That will probably take another couple of Winters!
Thanks to kept in a jar for this week's theme - you too can join THIS IS on Angela's Three Buttons blog!

Orange around my house
Leading out to the back yard, we battle with plastic string beads that hang from the door. We love them, but sadly, they don't keep the flies outside!
These flowers (the name escapes me....) grow happily in our vegetable garden. They protect the cabbage from nasty invaders. Sorry to be so vague, but I am not able to check my info and don't want to lead you down the 'wrong' garden path..... Anyway, they are hardy and great for companion planting!
Our fabulous orange tree! We have two actually and they are THE best oranges in the world!! You would know this fact if you have tasted them. They are so sweet. No shortage of vitamin C around here!

Orange.
Orange is known for it's vibrancy and energy.
It's made up of red and yellow.
It's a fruit.
Orange increases oxygen supply to the brain, produces an invigorating effect, and stimulates mental activity.
It's a hot colour on the colour wheel.
It's opposite is Purple.
It's bpab's main colour!

August Newsletter
Hey there!
Welcome to August - the last month of Winter (in my part of the world anyway!).
We have been enjoying the cool weather this year.... surrendering to layers of clothing, hot chocolate drinks, even cooking outside in the chiminea (roast vegies and damper).
Spring is peeking her head up here and there, as blossoms start to appear, the sun shines a bit more frequently and we get the chance to play at the dewy wet play ground now and again. Lovely!
Anyway, time for some news etc...
Have a beautiful August,
Monica @ bpab
Some cool threads will be hitting the bpab virtual shelves in September....
Does anyone want to pre-order any items?
I won't be stocking the whole collection, so if you'd like to have a proper look at all the clothing on offer for summer, please email me and I will send you the pics. I'd need orders in quickly.
Aren't I nice?!
Poss Bloss (new brand)
We are getting summer shoes in store sometime in August and at the moment we're deciding on a family organiser pack.
If you are not on THE list and want to have a say on potential products (plus special deals to do with them), email me with "I wanna say!" in the subject line. I'll then get back to you with more info. I'd really appreciate your help!!
